Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast will be hosting a fundraisor for Orchestra Northern Arizona (ONA) Orchestra Northern Arizona (ONA) provides informally-presented orchestral concerts in Flagstaff, free of charge to all comers. ONA is a non-profit community orchestra that gives amateur musicians of all ages an opportunity to play the great classical composers' works under the direction of David Cripps, who is a Flagstaff resident and world-renowned musician and conductor. We will be there with MNA to work on the Gardens and to work with the Peaks Life Enrichment Coordinator to prep and care for the Gardens! PEAKS Pride's Annual Meet and Greet - Mardi Gras on the Mountain will take place on January 14, 2011 at Zane Grey Ballroom from 6-9pm. Learn about PEAKS Pride by visiting with the entire board while partaking in a special Cajun Fare menu by the Chef at Weatherford Hotel - Cash Bar. This is a great opportunity to meet the board and other volunteers and to consider signing up in person to be a volunteer! Suggested ticket price is $20- with a cash bar - this is an all ages event! PEAKS Pride has embarked on its next project of helping Northern Arizona Food Bank (NAFB), for the our 3rd Annual Summer Food Drive! PEAKS Pride will be again collaborating with Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast at 3380 E Lockett Road, Flagstaff to give tours of the Bed and Breakfast for 3 cans of food or a $10 donation. There will also be a raffle with GREAT prizes to be raffled away! Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Additionally, 100% of the proceeds will go to NAFB! Finally, there will also be a bake sale and a lemonade stand! Whether or not you have toured the B/B in the past, please plan to stop in to the B/B on Sunday, August 22 between noon and 4pm!
We are reaching for 1000 cans of food and currently we are at 229 cans as of August 15th!
Some of the raffle items: Josephine's Restaurant Gift Card, - Pesto Brother's Gift Card, - Old Town Creperie Certificate, - Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfst Gift Certifcates (4), - Caked, Specialty Cream Cheesecakes, - Hotel Weatherford/Charly's - Fratelli's Pizza East Side. More will be added as they are attained!

It's Adopt-an-Avenue clean-up time again! We meet at Starlight Pines B/B at 10:30am for cleaning Lockett and 4th Street. This project takes about an hour to an hour and a half. A hot lunch will be served after the clean-up!

PEAKS Pride's board will meet with Second Chance Center for Animals to present our check for $2,512.50! This is the final total , and 100% of the proceeds, from our gigantic yard/garage sale event that happened on June 26 and 27! We have invited Flagstaff Mayor Presler and other local media to attend!

PEAKS Pride will be sponsoring a YARD SALE - Benefiting Second Chance Center for Animals At Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast! DAY ONE, Our Yard Sale made a WHOPPING $1825.00 for Second Chance! Our Second day, we brought in $664. Our total intake for Second Chance is $2489!! Thank you Katte Smith-Wedmore, PEAKS Pride Board and Flagstaff residents for making this a huge success!
The Humane Society was first evacuated, due to the Hardy Fire and Second Chance Center for Animals took all their animals. THEN, Second Chance Center for Animals had to be evacuated due to the Shultz Fire. Additionally, residents and their pets that have been displaced/evacuated, Second Chance Center for Animals is also housing and caring for those pets/animals too! We know you have stuff sitting in your garage, shed, cabinets, under the beds!! Pull it out and bring it to Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast, 3380 E Lockett Road, Flagstaff, as soon as you can! Even if you don't have the time to come to the yard sale, bring your stuff, we'll take care of the rest!! If you need us to pick your items up, please let us know! PEAKS Pride will help provide volunteers for The 18th Annual Made in the Shade Beer Tasting Festival that will be held at the Coconino County Fairgrounds on June 26th, 2010. This event is the primary and very important fundraiser for the local Flagstaff station of Sun Sounds of Arizona. All monies raised go directly to providing local services to people in Flagstaff and northern Arizona who are blind or print disabled. Since our income and grant revenue have decreased dramatically in the past two years our fundraising event is critical to help pay for broadcast fees and basic support of the service. Sun Sounds offers all of its services at no charge to the listener since we know that many of our clients are also having income challenges.

PEAKS Pride has adopted a portion of the Museum of Northern Arizona's Community Garden! This garden is on the property of The Peaks Senior Living Community and is for the use of the senior residents. Near the end of May to the beginning of June the seniors will be planting their seedlings - but prior to this, we need to cultivate the garden so that they seniors can have access and the ability to plant their seedlings! We need your help this coming Sunday to get the garden ready for the seniors! The hours are from 11am to 1pm, Sunday, May 23rd. This year's Renaissance Faire & Mountain Music Festival promises to be a great event on the 4th of July weekend of 2009, July 4th & 5th. Featuring Stage shows, food, comedy, swordplay, shopping in the Summer Marketplace, brave knights, beautiful maidens and so much more... who knows, you might even cross paths with the Diva, I mean the Queen herself!

PEAKS Pride's Filing 501(c)3 Application & More!!!
We are in the final steps of officially becoming a 501(c)3 organization! About 3 weeks ago, we became incorporated in the State of Arizona as a Non-Profit Organization. Our next step is to file the application for tax exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service, the 501(c)3 or form 1023.
In order to file for the tax exempt status, the filing fee required is $300. With all our past fundraising efforts, we have collected nearly $1000, however, our balance sheet puts us about $200 short of that $300 filing fee. If you can and are able to, consider making a donation to PEAKS Pride, even if it is only $1...every dollar will help us reach our goal! Our site has a list of past donors - and your name will be added to that list, just let us know if you do not wish to have your gift recognized there!
PEAKS Pride's website at www.peakspride.org is set up to accept a PayPal donation. Since we fully expect to get certified by the IRS as a tax exempt organization in a matter of a few months, your donation will be tax deductible! If you require a receipt, just let us know and we'd be happy to send one out to you!
Additionally, by going to our website you can sign up to receive our newsletter, to be a volunteer or to become a board member! Upon our certification as a 501(c)3 organization, we will find the need to fill our database with even more volunteers for future and upcoming projects!

PEAKS Pride officially became Incorporated in the State of Arizona as a Non-Profit Organization! On this 27th day of March, the application for 501 (c) 3 status has officially gone in the mail to the Internal Revenue Service! We expect to hear back within the next 60-90 days!
Our next board meeting, the 6th of April, we will finalize our participation in the Adopt an Avenue program here in Flagstaff!

On January 31, PEAKS Pride submitted its Articles of Incorporation and request for Non-Profit status with the State of Arizona! We expect to hear back from them within the next 30 days!

On September 19th PEAKS Pride learned that we had collected the most amount of food for the Northern Arizona Food Bank! We are very proud of the fact that of the total of 1947 pounds of food collected, PEAKS Pride collected 1096 pounds! That represents 56% of the total amount of food collected by all organizations, including those with over 25 employees! A heartfelt thank you goes out to all that helped us help those in need - here in Northern Arizona! We also look forward to participating next year, and encourage other organizations to do so also!

The Board of Directors of PEAKS Pride is holding a charitable event for Northern Arizona Food Bank at Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast here in Flagstaff, Arizona.
We plan to give tours of Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast, 3380 E. Lockett Road on Sunday, August 10, 2008 from Noon to 4pm. The suggested donation is 3 to 5 cans of food and/OR $10 per person. This event benefits the Northern Arizona Food Bank (NAFB) and the communities surrounding Flagstaff that they serve and provide meals for. Should you not have time to take the tour of the Bed and Breakfast, just drop off your donation to our volunteers posted in the parking lot of the B&B!
